Дело в Верховном суде США [Supreme Court, U.S.] (1841), решение по которому освободило 54 раба, восставших на испанском рабовладельческом судне "Амистад" в 1838 у берегов Кубы и попросивших убежища в США. Интересы рабов защищал Дж. К. Адамс [Adams, John Quincy], оспоривший решение администрации Ван Бюрена [Van Buren, Martin] о возвращении рабов хозяевам. Африканцы вернулись на родину на средства филантропической организации
